Juno Boyle (Sara Allgood) and her daughter Mary (Kathleen O'Regan) talk to each other here and there, but always about men, mainly about Charles Bentham, Mary's fiance.
Mrs. Madigan (Maise O'Neill) encourages Mary to sing, but it is a single phrase, and then she starts a monologue directed to the audience, composed by men and women. After the song, Juno encourages Mrs. Madigan to sing as well, and they have a small conversation. It is the only clear pass.
Also Mrs. Pancurs (not credited, but named), Juno and Mrs. Madigan have a long conversation, but it is about Mrs. Pancurs' dead son.
At the end, there's another conversation between Juno, Mary and Mrs. Madigan, but is about Juno's son Johnny.
